Accountancy Europe CEO Olivier-Boutellis-Taft was on Finnish TV programme A Studio on 21 June to discuss tax avoidance and tax intermediaries with MEP Fabio De Masi, Vice Chair of the Committee of Inquiry into Money Laundering, Tax Avoidance and Tax Evasion (PANA).
In the debate Olivier emphasised that addressing tax intermediaries is only one piece of the puzzle in combating tax evasion and avoidance. Transparency is a key element of any solution and professional accountants provide such transparency to markets participants and ultimately support trust in society. Olivier also highlighted the importance of changing the culture of tax planning.
