Transparency without complexity: how to future-proof DAC?

The Directive on Administrative Cooperation (DAC) sets common EU rules that allow national tax authorities to receive and exchange tax information securely. The European Commission is now planning a recast of the several DACs, to combine, streamline and rationalise reporting requirements, and reduce administrative burdens on both taxpayers and administrations.

Our policy-focused event will bring together the European Commission, European Parliament, Member States, and practitioners to:

  • unpack the Commission’s thinking behind the DAC revision within the broader tax simplification agenda
  • assess effectiveness and possible gaps in the current DAC legislation
  • discuss needs of and implications for advisors, taxpayers and tax administrations
  • reflect on how simplification, legal certainty and proportionality can be embedded from the start

Speakers

  • Benjamin Angel, Director, “Direct taxation, Tax coordination, Economic analysis and Evaluation”, Directorate-General for Taxation and Customs Union (TAXUD), European Commission
  • Mariella Caruana, Deputy Director, Business Europe
  • Sarah Ní Giolla Bhride, Head of Third Party Data Management Unit, Analytic and Information Management Branch, Revenue Ireland
