XBRL : a matching challenge towards simplification

Presentations and other documents related to the XBRL Roundtable of 26 February 2010 are now available for download.

The Roundtable focused on enhancement of awareness of accountants, auditors, and others about the use of XBRL in financial reporting, its benefits and its challenges and facilitating a debate about the next steps.

The Roundtable identified how such awareness can be improved and integrated both in terms of policy, reporting, accounting and auditing practice and education with help of best practice examples and initiatives in individual countries and at European level. The Launch Event also addressed the growing interest for XBRL in other domains like taxation, regulatory filings, etc. and in other jurisdictions like the US and address the enhanced focus on reducing costs, increasing efficiencies and the quality of information.
