Accountancy Europe is the voice of the European accountancy profession. As the umbrella organisation for 49 professional bodies, we represent 1 million accountants, auditors and advisors in Europe. We translate their daily experience to inform the European policy debate.

As Accountancy Europe strengthens its strategic positioning towards 2030, we are looking for a Head of Communication who will play a central role in shaping our visibility, influence, and engagement with key stakeholders across the EU and beyond.

Your key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and executing targeted communication strategies that strengthen the visibility of Accountancy Europe’s key policy areas (e.g. audit & assurance, tax, governance), support strategic crisis communication, and position the organisation as a trusted thought leader;
  • Proactively engaging with journalists, media outlets, and relevant stakeholders; drafting press releases; handling media enquiries; and securing high-level speaking opportunities for senior leadership;
  • Leading, coordinating, and empowering a small communications team; setting clear priorities; fostering collaboration across teams; and supporting professional development;
  • Strengthening member-facing communications through the development of value packs, factsheets, and practical communication tools, as well as supporting surveys and feedback mechanisms to assess impact and relevance;
  • Overseeing Accountancy Europe’s digital channels (website, social media), ensuring high-quality, consistent, and SEO-optimised content aligned with strategic objectives;
  • Supporting the communication aspects of events, from expert roundtables to large-scale public webinars and conferences.

The successful candidate will have:

  • A University degree (preferably in digital communication or public relations)
  • Minimum 7 years professional experience in communications, media, public relations, or a related field, preferably in an EU institution, European association, civil society organisation, consultancy, or similar Brussels-based environment
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and verbal communication skills in English; ability to translate complex policy topics into clear, impactful messages; strong media and stakeholder communication skills. Knowledge of additional EU languages is a strong asset
  • Proven experience with content management systems (e.g. WordPress), email marketing tools (e.g. MailChimp), social media platforms (notably LinkedIn), and familiarity with digital analytics and emerging AI tools
  • Demonstrated experience in team leadership, cross-functional collaboration, and working effectively in a multicultural environment
  • An interest in EU Affairs and the EU policymaking
  • A strong interest in serving the public interest, a proactive and solution-oriented attitude, and the ambition to contribute strategically to the future of the profession in Europe
